Noise Noise Noise

Hello everybody, Kid Supreme signing in. Last night I had the opportunity to get better acquainted with the Noise Rock scene of Providence, RI and I have to say I was extremely impressed. The show at a venue called AS220 which is a huge proponent for the arts in Rhode Island and to my understanding put on a lot of shows that feature Noise bands. Last night had two bands from New York and two bands that are local to the area. The two bands from New York were Talk Normal and Red Dawn II. Talk Normal was the last band that played, but was nonetheless really good. It is a twice piece band, a guitarist and a drummer. Something interesting that I found while watching this band was that the guitarist had a very similar playing style to yours truly, none other than Kid Supreme. The other band was a more Punk Rock oriented Noise band known as Red Dawn II. If you're familiar with films you would know that Red Dawn is a war film that was once recognized as the "most violent movie ever." Their band name is a reference to that violent war film and many of their songs were about horror films. They too were a two piece band, a guitarist and a drummer. The other two acts were local to the Providence area and both were a "one man band." One of the acts is called Lazy Magnet and was really interesting because he used live tape manipulation and if you know me you'd know that Mission of Burma is one of my personal favorites and to get to see something that was a part of their band was fantastic. The first "band" that played was a man that called himself Sky Jelly. He used a lot of loops and was really fun to see live. I actually had a chance to speak with him after the show and bought one of his demo's.
It's really great to see that Noise bands finally have an opportunity to get bigger. For all of you music history buffs, you know that Noise bands have been trying to make it since the 70's. Overall, I'd say it's safe to say that Noise music is here to stay. This fact is very comforting because many of the bands that played (specifically Talk Normal) have a very similar quality to The Bridal Shower.

Much Love,
Kid Supreme

P.S. Just remember that it's Noise because Indie Rock is for pussies.
