Could Not Let this Go Unsaid

Alright so, Mushmouth recently insisted that I watch the new Architecture in Helsinki music video. The song is entitled "The Beep." Now let me first state that I really liked their first two albums (i.e. Fingers Crossed, In Case We Die), but did not care for their most recent album. Although their most recent album Places Like This was not very good, I can respect that they were trying to push their music in a different direction, however, I cannot justify the sin that is "The Beep." Somehow the members of Architecture in Helsinki deemed it both appropriate and necessary to start making throw away 1980's pop music. Unreal and frankly uncalled for. If after reading this you still feel you need to actually watch the video you'll understand what I mean and furthermore, the video itself only solidifies my claim. Hell even the name should have tipped me off. I'm just disappointed that's all. This just suggests to me that bands now either have no artistic integrity or (perhaps worse) not artistic vision, when you're reduced to making 80's mall pop.

I apologize to anyone who many have thought it was harsh, but as I stated I could not allow this to go unsaid.

Until next time comrades,

Kid Supreme Strikes Again

Hello comrades! Thanksgiving is almost upon us. Let us celebrate family, friends, delicious food and murder. Preferably not the last one.
Anyway, The Bridal Shower will playing some music during this Thanksgiving break and I for one am excited. Expect a new vlog, perhaps even some newly recorded material, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Regardless we will be playing music and will be making new material even if we don't record it.

Happy holidays comrades,

More Music From Us?!

Mushmouth.

I hope this isn't an overwhelming amount of music we're giving all of you lovely listeners. Here is something we recorded a while ago, and I believe alluded to at some point. Its acoustic versions of some of our earlier songs (aka from the summer). Here goes:

Expect to be seeing another album released soon. This will most likely be our Drexel session, whenever we get around to making artwork for it and putting together some discernible order for the songs, and maybe crafting some sort of special thing for the physical release.

On the topic of physical releases (not to sound dirty at all), we're going to be working overtime this coming vacation to craft some excellent hand-made sleeves, 80s hardcore style, to have for folks who come to our shows.

Keep doing what you're doing

Roger Williams 11/8/08

Mushmouth say:

Well, here we are, ladies and gentlemen, another release by The Bridal Shower. This time, your ears will be feasting on our last show, which was in fact at Roger Williams University, on the date of November 8th of the current year. Without further ado:

Enjoy all of the lo-fi goodness of this release, recorded on our lil' tapey by our new friend Erin (thank you ma'am). Thanks are extended as well to Jizzy, who helped us with some drumming, and Special, who graced us with his turntables.

At this juncture I would also like to mention that we are open to anybody who is at one of our shows taping said show. Bring your tape recorders, digital recorders, camcorders, cameras, talk-boys, yak backs, or anything else to help us archive our time in front of/around you. Let us know if you do, because we will more than likely use anything you have for us.

I love you more and more every day

Taj Mahal

is slow brewed for the connoisseur.

Mushmouth here.

The Bridal Shower may be coming to you from a radio station close (or not so close) to you soon. One of my classes has us producing radio shows to be played in syndication, and our next task is to interview a band, discuss their music, and also play it on air. Will it be The Bridal Shower? I hope so.

New thing here. Discussion of lyrics. Nobody ever leaves comments. Do that shit up, that's what its there for. Oh, and subscribe or follow or the like. Anyway, onto the lyrics. Tonight's lyrics are from one of my favorite songs to play:

FIGHTY CAT

Situational
Mind, it makes me
In the brightest lights, I
I see the faces
Focus, focus
Dropping like a pin
The minutes stretch
Drawing closer, still
And each wave
Pixelated, real
The movement
Does it account

This song reminds me of one of the best days of my life.

The Bridal Shower.

Getting slightly less enigmatic and slightly more personal.

A good move?

You be the judge.

Okay, no more single line sentences.

LOVE YOU
Mushmouth

Success

And yet another successful show for The Bridal Shower. I would give us an A+, however if there were a more prestigious award available I would surely give it to us.
Anyway, we had our show at Roger Williams University last night. It was fun, we had my neighbor Special do some turn table action for us during the set, which was fantastic. We also had a member of Hand? by the name of Jizzy help us out on a few songs. Let me also state that although I had a good time playing, it was only because I was playing a show. The stage crew at this place was completely unpleasant and was more concerned with the stupid lightning than with getting our levels correct. Also, there was a point where I was told I was not allowed to have both a DJ and computers. Apparently we're barbarians and new ways of doing things are absolutely prohibited.
The bands that played were pretty cool. The Short Summers were a kind of alternative rock band and Forest Henderson was a really neat band as well. I particularly enjoyed Forest Henderson because these guys seemed intrigued by our set up. I will continue by explaining that I'm certain the people putting on this show were not very happy with the both our attire and the music we played and I don't see any future shows at Roger Williams University. However, that's fine, I had fun playing and that's all that really matters.

Until next time comrades,

An Evening With The Bridal Shower

Hi-Ho comrades! Information on the show this Saturday at Roger Williams University is afoot.
Said show will be on this Saturday, the 8th of November. As stated above it will be at Roger Williams University at the Field House which is located in the athletics area where the radio station also is, I'm not sure what the building is actually called. Anyway, the show will be at 8 and will end around 11. We will be playing with two band The Short Summers and Forest Henderson, two bands I believe also have students that attend Roger Williams University. Mushmouth and I (Kid Supreme) except you to be in attendance and if you're not you know what will happen. Yeah, it'll be like last time. You remember last time don't you? How could you forget? It was terrible for all of us, but it had to be done.
Regardless, you should come to the show, I'm expecting it to be nothing short of an extravaganza.

Yours truly,
Kid Supreme (of The Bridal Shower)
