Remember This?

Yeah, this blog. Its still here. Its been so long, sweet hearts. Just checking in. We've been busy at school, but the breaks are coming up, so there is a possibility of new music. Also, Anders Nils, our fine friend, is probably going to join the band, if not at least write music with us this winter. We'll post some of the music we've wrote at the end of the summer soon. Its good. He also did a remix of a Work. song. I did one as well. Coming soon, promises that will hopefully not be broken for new music! Its happened before. We'll see what happens this time.

Go to school

It's Just So Obvious

Hello everyone, I'm here to discuss some things with you today. First order of business is have you ever notices how closely hipster girls resemble Romulans from Star Trek? Exhibits A and B should be all the evidence we need.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Now you may be asking yourself "Kurt, since when is it hip to look like the scourge of the 24th century?" This is a great question that has been debated for countless hours. The most logical conclusion is that these women are, in fact, Romulans from the 24th century who have travelled back to the 21st century in order to destroy the Federations past, thus making themselves the unopposed rulers of the galaxy. However, other possibilities have been suggested. One is that these women are all secretly Trekkies. Another possible explanation is that the hairstyle is a complex conspiracy of hairdressers. Or perhaps women everywhere are completely ridiculous and are oblivious to the fact that they look suspiciously like Romulans from Star Trek, in which case, I am here to help.

In lieu of this new information we should all be concerned because the "bob" hairstyle will only lead to more horrible and disturbing trends such as:

Or worse yet this:

It's really only a matter of time.

Anyway, on to other matters. As a result of this being, primarily, a music blog, I feel obligated to include something about music. So I ask you, have you heard Major Lazer's Guns Don't Kill People-- Lazers Do? As the name suggests, the album is awesome. Major Lazer is a collaboration of producers Diplo and Switch with guest appearances from many of Dance Hall finest participants, such as Mr. Evil, Mr, Lexx, Mr. Vega, Ms. Thing . . . Every song on the album is fun and listenable, with some silliness along the way, for example there is a sketch about a baby born with auto tune. The album opener Hold the Line is a terrific track and has already been made into an even better music video. Major Lazer (the music video's hero) looks suspiciously like the X-Men's Bishop flying on a rocket powered skateboard fighting hoards of zombies and vampires. It really is a totally badass as it sounds. You definitely don't have to be a fan of dance hall, dubstep or reggaetone to enjoy this album because if you don't like dance hall, dubstep, or reggaestone you're a hater, ipso facto making your opinion irrelevant. I don't make the rules, I just enforce them.

That's how the crack pipe crumbles,

I'm a Tight Pants Wearin' Ass (Expletive Deleted), But Not Really

Hello everyone, much to my surprise and dismay I, Kurt, am a hater, or so popmontreal.com declares. In a review of the timeless act Ninjasonik, the writer states that they are "easy to love hard to hate (unless you're a hater)." Of course with such hits as "Somebody Gonna Get Pregnant" and "Tight Pants" (with it's brilliant hook "I'm a tight pants wearin' ass (expletive deleted)) one might ask: what's not to love? Well besides poor grammar, 1990's Seattle SuperSonic throwback jerseys and dancing on par with the contestants of "So You Think You Can Dance?" not much. They make questionable music, coupled with even more questionable lyrics. Then this group does remixes of other songs that are not just remixes (no, no that would be far too simple), they take the songs and change the words as well. In one case, a remix of The Death Set's "Negative Thinking," has the group suggesting that another "crew" was attempting to imitate their tight pants wearing style. Ultimately the band is entrenched in the superficial nature of the scene present today, I believe the examples above denote that fact quite well. Does this assessment make me a hater? Perhaps, perhaps not. However, I am sticking with this appraisal and risk the title of hater.

In other news, I just watched Beyonce's music video for "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" in its entirety recently and it was awesome. The frantic, broken robot sounds masquerading as a beat is terrific, it is for me at least. As a fan of noise music, circuit bending and other random sound manipulation I appreciate the music in this song. However, I'm at a loss to understand how someone that is not a fan of sound manipulation or noise can enjoy listening to the song, especially while referring to a majority of what I listen to as "artsy crap," whatever that means. Next the minimalist background is outstanding, a white background with three women dancing incomprehensibly. Speaking of the dancing, have you seen the the dancing? It's intense to say the least. Basically the dancing is impossible to describe in words, but I will briefly attempt to do so. Beyonce and her back-up dancers make jerky, nonlinear movements that are completely aesthetically unpleasing and yet difficult to take one's eye off of. Now, the lyrics of the song are a subject of contention because, if I'm not mistaken, at the release of the song Beyonce was, in fact, engaged. This bit of information robs the song of much of its message, but worry not, plenty of "single ladies" continue to sing the song loud, following Beyonce's lead without this knowledge in mind. Above all else my absolute favorite part of the video is Beyonce's inexplicable gauntlet. Is she going to into battle to fight for her ring? Is it a symbol for the ringless hand and the hostility it has caused? Perhaps Beyonce is going LARPing when the song is finished to vent her frustrations. In any case, I think it is safe to discuss how absurd it is.

Well that's that then, good 'morrow friends,
Kurt (of The Bridal Shower)

up dated

I guess this is what being home sick/changing monikers does to a man.

It's now labeled as Ren Sánchez. It used to be, too. But then I changed it. And now its back.

It's C Period; She's Drunk.

Strange Warms

Working on solo stuff. Got a good portion of a song done today. Let you know when things look to be done.

Leder

Hello, its Ren. Kid Supreme, or should I say Kurt, and I have decided to do away with the monikers. Its a new era as far as The Bridal Shower is concerned.

A few things other than that, though. First (or I suppose second, now), we are both home for the summer. This means we'll be writing music when we're together. Look for it in the coming months.

Second/Third, I'm working with my friend Anders on our band Sun Dick, formerly Forty Fingers (another band from god knows where already has the name). We've been working on this project for about a year, but we've gotten more and more serious about it. We're in the song writing/demo recording stage, so keep an ear out for that, and keep an eye here for any links that may have to do with Sun Dick in the next couple weeks.

Third/Fourth, I just beat Mother 3. Pretty happy with that.

IN CONCLUSION

We should be updating you lovely readers shortly on any music that we will be recording or releasing. Stay tuned.

Love you

Introducing . . . !?!?!

I'm lying. I just wanted to make this post seem more exciting than it actually is.

Anyway, I (Kid Supreme) decided that it has been too long since we have last spoken, therefore, here I am in blogging mode.

I hope you're all doing well. I am doing just fine, the semester is coming to a close and I feel pretty good about it.

I also have a show this Saturday at Roger Williams University. Although I vowed to never play another show for them again, I am not really in the driver's seat of this band, so I could not voice this fact. The band is currently known as City, which is subject to change depending on when we really get our shit together. It's kind of Math Rock/Post-Hardcore/Indie, not exactly sure how to classify it yet, we'll see as we write more songs, we currently only have four and a fifth is in the works. I play the bass guitar in this band (weird I know), and it's fun, the guys in the band are cool, but we'll see how things work out come next year when we have to find a new drummer.

I'm also very excited to get home because that means, as always, The Bridal Shower will be back in action. I have spoken with Mushmouth and we're both very excited. Mushmouth has informed me that he will be working on some other projects this summer as well. Depending on circumstances matador may be back in action, all depending on if our bassist returns from his unprecedented adventure to New Mexico. I will be working on some new Unsuccessful Fisherman material too.

Well, I believe that wraps everything up that we needed to discuss. I hope I see you at some shows this summer as we have plans to play some, perhaps in the Big City? One never knows.

As always, stay fresh, stay cool, stay clean,
Kid Supreme

Causes

Last night I had a dream that a plane crashed on the lawn in front of my building.

Today, I walked to get some lunch, and heard some noise about evangelicals preaching about reforming homosexuals, and other anti-gay nonsense. The school I go to is VERY VERY open and accepting of all types of people, so I had to wonder what exactly they were thinking coming here.

On my way back to my room, I saw a huge group of people pushing the two evangelicals off of school property. Thank god, I thought.

But they stopped short, right at the edge of the lawn on the front of my building. I could hear a megaphone, and it started to look like a protest.

I walked over, and sure enough, a group was gathering to protest these fuckers coming to our campus and preaching their hatred.

I feel very strongly on matters like this, so I skipped class and took part in the protest, until the person who was leading it decided we were giving them too much attention, and should leave, so they would have nobody to rile up. Still, I stayed on the opposite side of the lawn, watching to make sure they left.

Apparently they had a permit to be here until 5. I just got out of class (6ish), and they're gone.

Things like this give me hope that people actually care about the things that matter. There had to have been at least 200 people protesting, as opposed to two evangelicals with huge signs. As sick as their views made me, I was so happy that my community reacted so quickly and with such strength.

Who cares if you're gay or straight? I love you anyway.

I love you all.

Just Checking In

Hello there, its Mushmouth, just saying hello, and letting you all know that we haven't died in a fire.

How is everybody's April so far? Rain showers? Windy cities? Things of that nature?

Good to hear.

More to come soon, just figured it would be nice to check in.

Sending you candygrams soon,

I know!

I'm pretty sure if anybody showed up on my doorstep with a can of Sir Chomps A-lot brand raviolis for me, I would marry them as soon as I was done eating.

Let me break down my childhood years:

"Yo girl, whatchu doin on the playground? Monkey bars? That's straight...listen. You wanna come over after school, maybe my mom can put on a can of Sir Chomps A-lot, we can play with my Power Rangers hand held video game? Don't stress, I got Ninja Turtles too. Then we can watch some Mighty Max, maybe ask my mom to play a couple games on the computer, and then chill out to my Fern Gully tape. That's right, straight VHS. So whatchu say, boo?"

Hope everybody had a good February, I know I did.

Hope everybody is enjoying The Unsuccessful Fisherman as much as I am.

Kid Supreme and I reconvene in two weeks for one week. I would prep yourself for some new material, because it is surely coming once we get home on break.

I miss the summer.

Just saying.

What about tapes?

The Foliage E.P.

False alarm everyone. I jumped the gun with that earlier post. I didn't think I would finish the EP this quickly.

This is the actual Foliage E.P.:

It consists of four songs:
1. Forms
2. Dirt
3. Better
4. Days

Hope you like the tracks.

The Unsuccessful Fisherman

Hello comrades, I believe an update is in order.

http://www.mediafire.com/?ddhitdmikon

Here is the first E.P. from me (Kid Supreme) as The Unsuccessful Fisherman. It is entitled The Foliage E.P. and has two tracks: 1. Forms - 5:36 2. Dirt - 6:12.

It's Ambient/Ethereal Wave. I made the music and I did the vocals. Also before you ask I did not alter my vocals in any way.

I hope you enjoy it.

Yours forever and ever,
Kid Supreme

Nothing New

As the title of this blog states nothing new has really happened. However, it has been a while since the last blog and even longer since yours truly (Kid Supreme) has blogged.

I wanted to tell you all that The Bridal Shower does has four new songs recorded. We finished them before we left to go back to our respective schools. They'll be up soon. We just need to finish putting the finishing touches on them.

Anyway, I'm thinking about working on some solo stuff. Which I imagine would be fun. I've just always found that half the fun in making music was working with other people. However, it's possible that you may see some music made by me which will be along the lines of Drone/Ambient kind of stuff, perhaps with some Harsh Noise and other elements added in. I'm thinking of using the names Good Pattern or The Unsuccessful Fisherman as the name of the project. I don't know. Tell what you think if you feel you need to voice your opinion.

Until next time comrades,
Kid Supreme (of The Bridal Shower)

New University

Mushmouth rides again, in another exciting edition of

THE BRIDAL SHOWER BLOG!

My new room mate is playing Black Dice, and I'm eating a large large large bowl of ramen style noodles.

University is good.

Classes have started already, and I must say, they seem quite engaging, and more up the alley of what I'm interested in. The city is much closer, and I actually saw M83 the other night. Good band. Keyboardist (female) is gahjuz.

Can't complain right now. Work load is what's to be expected. Friends are good. Suite mates are class acts. Might be writing for the paper/magazine thing. MAY get a radio show. Prospects for a melodic harsh noise band comprised mainly of circuit bent Bratz keyboards.

Off They Go

Once again, Mushmouth.

Its been a few days since we've updated. Our time with matador is complete, for now, since the bass player is away in other states on various adventures, and the rest of us are off to university within the next few weeks. But fear not, if you enjoyed what you've been hearing, there will be more when we are all together again.

Speaking of what you've been hearing, here is the album that we recorded over the course of a few days last week. Enjoy, you lovely people.

matador - matador

Also speaking of what you've been hearing, here is an update on what you WILL be hearing. Kid Supreme and I recorded a few songs we worked on over this break, and we will release them in a bit, once we get things straightened out with them. Look for that in the coming days. ALSO, I have been working on writing shoegaze/dream-pop guitar parts to be backed by 8-bit drums and bass. The kind of thing that I could perform by myself and have it sound full. The basics for two songs were recorded today, so once I have something done I'll post it. Look out for that probably sooner than the Bridal Shower stuff.

I leave for university in two days (one if you realize that, as I'm writing this, its already Sunday). I'm excited and nervous and all that jazz. New school, I don't know anybody, and I've been communicating with my room mate through the wonders of the internet. Expect updates on this as well.

Love
Mushmouth

On The Side

Its Mushmouth.

As Kid Supreme mentioned, we've gotten back together with our old band, matador, and are trying to practice and record as much as we can before our bassist leaves for the great south west. Here is our first successful effort, streaming on the band's myspace page. its called "Captured".

matador

Enjoy, and if you're in the area, come see us perform this coming Friday, the 16th of January. Then its just a few short days until I am off to (a new) University. We'll try to get a few Bridal Shower songs recorded and up for you all before I head back.

When the Old Becomes the New

Why hello there comrades, it's your old friend Kid Supreme. I know it's been a while since I've written to you and for that matter since anything has been written on this blog. However, I write to you today because we have some news for you all. First, I want to mention that The Bridal Shower is working on some new music and it's going to be awesome. Second, Mushmouth and I have been working on new music with what some might consider a "blast from the past" a little band I like to call Matador with our good friends David and Goliath. Now Mushmouth has been working with Matador since the beginning, but due to uncontrollable circumstances I had to leave the band back in 2006. I am now a part of said band again and we're working on brand new Matador songs as well as redoing some of the songs they had already written.

So my friends expect new music soon from Matador and then after that there will likely be more new music from The Bridal Shower before we must return to university.

Until next time,
Kid Supreme (of The Bridal Shower)
